Denver, CO – Taking a break from her World Cup training regimen, Lindsey Vonn, the decorated alpine ski champion, spoke to more than 450 kids Thursday at Devinny Elementary School near Denver about her ski career, including her success in the 2010 Olympic Games and her three consecutive World Cup Titles. Vonn was the first American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in the Downhill and also took home a bronze in the Super G at the Olympic Games held in 2010 in Whistler/Vancouver, British Columbia.nDevinny Elementary School won a contest through Vail Resorts and its School of Shred Program, which provides four free days of skiing or riding at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin for all Colorado fifth and sixth grade students as well as one complimentary beginner ski lesson, including rental equipment. Devinny had the most students sign up for the School of Shred and thereby won the visit from Vonn.

Wearing her gold medal, Vonn signed autographs and answered student questions — even in German — at the event Thursday and became the Principal of the Vail Resorts School of Shred program.

Vonn serves as an ambassador for six of Vail Resorts’ ski areas: Vail Mountain, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone in Colorado, and Heavenly and Northstar-at-Tahoe in California.

Following on the heels of this contest, Vail Resorts announced a new School of Shred contest: The 5th or 6th grade class that registers the most students into the School of Shred program before Nov. 7 can win a Ski Field Trip to Vail with Warren Miller film star, Chris Anthony.
