Canadian Snowboarders Ready for X Games 15

Vancouver (BC), Canada – A total of 15 Canadian snowboarders are in Aspen, Colo. to partake in X Games 15 from today through Sunday in big air, slopestyle, halfpipe, snowboard cross, snowboard street and para-snowboard.nCanadian national team member Dominique Maltais of Petite-Rivière-St-François, Quebec, will be riding in the women’s snowboard cross competition. Maltais is currently ranked first in the FIS World Cup standings, and will face long-time rival Lindsey Jacobellis of Stratton Mountain, Vt., the defending World champion.

In the men’s snowboard cross, Rob Fagan of Cranbrook, British Columbia; Tom Velisek of Squamish, British Columbia; Kevin Hill of Vernon, British Columbia; Dan Csokonay of Calgary, Alberta; and Jake Holden of Caledon, Ontario – all on the National team – will be competing.

In the women’s halfpipe, Sarah Conrad of Halifax, Nova Scotia, will be riding in the star-filled contest.

In the men’s slopestyle and big air contests, Canada will be represented by both Seb Toots and Mark McMorris, two riders who rode in some World Cup competitions as well as TTR contests this season.

Partnering with the Adaptive Action Sports (AAS), the X Games will also feature for the first time the sport of para-snowboard to its program, as an exhibition event. Canadian National Team members Tyler Mosher and Ian Lockey will be representing Canada in the ground-breaking race.

All competitions take place on Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, Colo.
