Skier Hits Tree, Dies on Mount Hood

Mt. Hood, OR – An Oregon City man died on Sunday after colliding with a tree at Mount Hood Meadows ski area in Oregon.nWilliam James Cannard, 41, was skiing in the steep Memorial Bowl sector around 11 a.m. Sunday morning when the incident occurred. Ski patrollers arrived quickly on the scene but were unable to revive Cannard, who sustained head injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.

Other Mount Hood Meadows guests witnessed the incident. Although Cannard’s wife and children were also skiing at Mount Hood Meadows on Sunday, they were not present when the accident occurred.
