The North Face Park and Pipe Draws Top Freeskiers to Waterville Valley This Weekend

Waterville Valley, NH – Some of the best amateur freeski talent in North America is heading to New Hampshire’s Waterville Valley ski resort this weekend for the second and only East Coast stop of The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series.nThe brand new series kicked off at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort in California Jan. 6-9.

“It was really cool to have the combination of first time competitors alongside X games athletes, and impressive to see the majority of the top 10 coming from the East Coast,” said athlete Nick Martini, who placed eighth for men in slopestyle. “The competition in Waterville Valley’s gonna go off!”

Confirmed athletes for The North Face Park & Pipe at Waterville Valley include John “LJ” Strenio, Dale Talkington, Annalisa Drew and Jess Breda. The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series will dedicate Friday and Saturday to slopestyle and Sunday to superpipe. The slopestyle course in Waterville’s Exhibition Park will feature two down features, a 50-foot table top, a 60-foot table top into four down features and end with Waterville’s signature street Hubba. The Superpipe, serviced by Exhibition’s poma lift, is 350 feet long with 18-foot walls and was built by Snow Park Technologies.

Judging for both contests will be on overall impression based on creativity, degree of difficulty, combinations, variations, style, and amplitude. Association of Freeskiing Professional General Manager and X Games competitor Steele Spence will serve as head judge along with pros Alexis Godbout, JF Cusson, Phil Belanger and Andy Woods.

Waterville Valley’s Exhibition Terrain Park and Superpipe are located just above the base area of the resort, a great location for spectators to watch the show.
