Police Arrest Suspect in Attempting Mugging at Colorado Ski Resort

Copper Mountain, CO – Summit County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man they say attempted to mug a skier visiting Copper Mountain ski resort in Colorado.nMatthew Mitchell, whose age and address were not immediately available, allegedly confronted the victim as he walked from the ski resort’s Wheeler Parking Lot to JJ’s Rocky Mountain Tavern on Feb. 16 when he reportedly pulled out a knife and demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim ran to a nearby restaurant and contacted Copper Mountain security officers, who in turn notified Sheriff’s deputies.

Mitchell’s involvement was revealed by friends who witnessed the incident as deputies were investigating an unrelated matter. Mitchell was arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted aggravated robbery and felony menacing.
