Alpine Meadows to Reopen for July 4th Skiing

Tahoe City, CA – Officials at California’s Alpine Meadows have announced that the resort on Lake Tahoe’s North Shore will reopen for three days of skiing and riding over the Independence Day holiday weekend.

Skiers and snowboarders can hit the slopes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, July 2 through 4. Terrain will be offered from the mountain’s summit all the way to the sun deck on the lodge, offering top-to-bottom terrain for all ability levels.

Ski and snowboard rental equipment will be available throughout the weekend. Additionally, two-hour beginner group ski and snowboard lessons will be offered each day at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. No reservations are required. Private instruction is offered every hour on the hour for all ability levels. Private lesson reservations are strongly encouraged by the resort and can be made by calling the Alpine Meadows Snow Sports Center at (530) 581-8200.

Alpine will transition to party mode each day from noon to 4 p.m. when the base lodge fires up the slopeside barbecue, complete with live music and special games and activities throughout the three-day holiday weekend.  Commemorative Alpine Meadows 4th of July T-shirts will also be available for purchase.

Lift tickets pre-purchased online by June 30 will be priced at $40 ($25 down and the $15 balance due upon arrival at the mountain), and 2011-12 Alpine Meadows season passholders will ski or ride for free. However, in celebration of Independence Day weekend, Alpine Meadows will host the “4th of July Fan Quest” challenge from May 13 through June 30 in which guests have a chance to reduce daily rates to just $25 . For every 1,000 new fans Alpine Meadows gains on Facebook between May 13 and June 30, Alpine will knock $3 off the balance due for all pre-purchasers. This offer’s good for up to 5,000 new fans, or a possible $15 savings.
