Araphoe Basin to Offer Colorado Skiing and Snowboarding Through July 4th

Arapahoe Basin, CO – The number of ski resorts offering skiing and riding through July 4th is now eight, following today’s announcement that Arapahoe Basin will join the July 4th club for the fifth time in the Colorado ski area’s history.

Following this Sunday’s operation the resort will open weekends only through the 4th.The Black Mountain Express and Lenawee Mountain Lift will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays as well as Monday, July 4. The Moly Hogan beginner lift will be closed.

Summer season lift tickets will be priced at $39 for adults, $29 for youth 15-19 and $19 for children 6-14.  Daily tickets should be purchased in the rental shop as the regular ticket window will be closed. Rental equipment, including clothing may be obtained from Arapahoe Sports.

A-Basin’s Legends Cafe, located in the A-Frame, will offer cold breakfast 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be in the form of a BBQ at the Black Mountain Lodge with brisket, pulled pork and burgers from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Guests may purchase a BBQ platter with a fountain drink for $10, or add a scenic lift ride to lunch for $20 total. The 6th Alley Bar will be open for drinks and pizza from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Arapahoe Basin has been open for skiing and snowboarding four times before, in 1993, 1995, 1996 and 1997. In 2003 they nearly made it, calling it quits on July 2 due to warmer temperatures and lack of snow, but in 1995 the resort stayed open until a remarkable August 10th.

Other western U.S. resorts that have already announced Independence Holiday Weekend operations include Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, Sugar Bowl, Kirkwood and Mammoth Mountain, Calif., Mt. Bachelor in Oregon and Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort in Utah.
