Windham, NY – Windham Country Club has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Windham Mountain Partners in which the Club, located on South Street in Windham, N.Y., will become a part of the ski resort located in New York State’s northern Catskill Mountains.

Windham Mountain Partners, the ownership group behind Windham Mountain, has been approved to purchase the golf course by majority vote of the Club’s shareholders, some of whom have been owners for many years.

“The shareholders are confident that Windham Mountain will be able to move the golf course forward in a manner that will make them proud,” said Russ Parry, president of Windham Country Club’s Board of Directors. “We are pleased that two important parts of Windham are coming together. I am sure that the Town, Club members and Windham Mountain will continue to support the Club through this transition.”

Known for its beautiful golf course atop the Catskill Mountains, Windham Country Club is a longstanding and important part of the community. Both the current and future ownership agree that the combination of the Club and Windham Mountain plays to the strength of Windham and hope that they will continue to grow stronger together.

“While details of the acquisition remain to be finalized, we are optimistic that they will be completed quickly and we anticipate being ready for opening day,” said Randy MacDonald, managing partner of Windham Mountain Partners.

Devastated by Hurricane Irene, the Club’s Board began restoration of the former 18-hole golf course, however the storm’s aftermath proved to be a difficult obstacle to overcome.“We look forward to continuing the restoration that the Board began and will return the golf course to its former glory,” said MacDonald.

The new ownership plans to make additional improvements to the Club, looking at all aspects of the operation from the course itself to the clubhouse, where Windham Mountain currently operates Seasons Restaurant. The Club, which will expand the ski resort’s off-season business, will continue to be named the Windham Country Club and its current employees will be offered employment by the partnership.
