Burton Announces Dates for 2014 European Open

Laax, Switzerland – The 2014 Burton European Open will take place in Laax this January, just ahead of the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

With finals scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, January 18-19, the European Open will showcase more than 300 athletes preparing to compete in Sochi in February,  with many of them making their final attempt to qualify for their country’s Olympic squad.

The event will be held in this luxurious Swiss ski resort community for the 1oth consecutive year. Amateurs and pros will battle it out side by side atop Crap Sogn Gion mountain to reach the finals in snowboard slopestyle and halfpipe, with the six best female riders and top 10 men competing for the Burton European Open titles, their share of a $125,000 prize purse and a last-minute ticket to Olympic glory in Sochi.
