Salt Lake City, UT – The 25th Ski Affair, an annual fundraiser for the Ski Archives of the J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah, was held last Thursday night. Ski Utah, the marketing arm of the Utah Ski & Snowboard Association, was awarded The History-Maker Award, which is presented to individuals or organizations from the Intermountain Region in recognition of their extraordinary accomplishments in winter sports.

This year Ski Utah is also celebrating 40 years of promoting “The Greatest Snow on Earth.” From the organization’s humble beginnings in 1975 with a promotional budget of $500,000 to today’s $3 million, Ski Utah is a brand known around the world. Over the last 40 years, Ski Utah has helped hit record skier visit numbers with 4.2 million in the 2007-08 season, set the standard for staging the Winter Olympics in 2002, and continually supports Utah’s $1.3 billion dollar winter sports industry.
