Killington, VT – The eyes of the ski racing world are focused on Killington this weekend as it hosts the 2016 Audi FIS Ladies Alpine World Cup and the focus, at least for Americans, will be on Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin who, at 21 years-old, was born four years after a World Cup competition was last held on the U.S. East Coast, at Waterville Valley, N.H.

As workers put the final touches on the Superstar Trail on Friday, Shiffrin participated in a press conference where she reminisced about growing up and skiing in the East and adding that she looks forward to skiing in front of friends and family, especially her 95-year-old grandmother who would be witnessing her granddaughter racing in person for the first time ever.

Run 1 of the Giant Slalom is just now getting underway at 9:30 a.m. local time, with Run 2 Starting at 12:30  p.m. Run 2 will be broadcast on NBC at 3:00 p.m. Eastern.
