Beacon Bowl at A-Basin to Benefit Avalanche Center

Arapahoe Basin, CO – “15 years of beacons, bragging rights and beer!”

This Saturday’s Beacon Bowl is an all-day event developed by the Arapahoe Basin Ski Patrol that includes a beacon search competition, avalanche dog and beacon demonstrations, a sponsor demo village the resort’s base area, and a free après party – all to benefit the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC).

The beacon search competition costs $20 to enter, and entrants will be categorized in three divisions: recreational, industry professional and juniors 18 and under. Entry includes the Beacon Bowl competition, a raffle ticket, and a beverage and slice of pizza at the après party. Contestants may register online in advance of Saturday’s competition.

Competition Schedule of Events:

8:00 a.m.: Beacon Bowl registration starts (A-Frame lodge)
9:15 a.m. – noon: Beacon Bowl prelims for both divisions (on-mountain)*
1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.: Beacon Bowl finals for both divisions (on-mountain)*

Free and open to the public:

9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.: beacon demonstrations (on-mountain)*
10:30am: avalanche dog demonstration

* On-mountain events will take place near the bottom of the Lenawee Mountain Lift and above the Molly Hogan Lift.

8:30 a.m. until approximately 3:30 p.m.
