Ogden, UT - Atomic Ski USA, Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, is carrying out a voluntary precautionary recall of heel components of certain ski bindings manufactured between 1998 and 2002 and sold under the brand names Atomic Race, Xentrix, Device, Centro and Dynamic. The heel housing component of these bindings could crack, possibly causing the binding to release early, posing a falling risk to the skier.
Atomic has received four reports of injuries, including a concussion and injuries to the shoulder and knee from falls. The bindings, manufactured in Austria, retailed for $150 to $350.

This safety recall is effective immediately, and Atomic urges that these bindings must no longer be used. The company is directing owners of these models to bring their skis to an authorized Atomic USA Ski dealer, where an appropriate replacement of the affected heel components will be made free of charge.
