Lake Louise (AB), Canada - The U.S. Ski Team's Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) was fastest on the course by 0.20 seconds over Sweden's Anja Paerson in the first training run Wednesday for Friday and Saturday's Bombardier Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup downhills in Lake Louise.

Austrian Ingrid Rumpfhuber had the third fastest time, 1.08 seconds behind Vonn. Britt Janyk (Whistler, BC) had a strong opening to downhill training, finishing fourth to lead the home team under sunny skies at the Lake Louise Ski Area.

“I know I can be consistently in the top 10 and the top five, so I’m taking the next step and I will try to be consistently on the podium this season,” said Janyk, who finished third in last season’s Bombardier Lake Louise Winterstart and won the first FIS Alpine World Cup downhill race of her career a week later in Aspen, Colo. “This summer I really worked on focusing on my training, on how to mentally make that step. I got a taste of the podium last year and I’m definitely looking forward this year to get some more.”

The program in Lake Louise includes downhill races on Friday and Saturday followed by a super G on Sunday. The final training run is scheduled for today at 12:30 p.m. local time.
