A massive snow slide on Wednesday caused extensive damage to the Summit West ski area at The Summit at Snoqualmie and eight homes at its base. |
One of the homes on Chamonix Place struck by the slide was knocked off its foundation, causing severe damage. Two people inside were treated for minor injuries. One tower of the Kelchelus chairlift was knocked over.
It's believed that a landslide triggered the avalanche, and not the other way around.
There is no word on when Summit East, formerly known as Hyak Ski Area, may reopen.
