Mukachevo, Ukraine - Since 2001, the Fischer Sports Group has used thermal energy from biomass for production and heating at its plant in Ried, Austria. Now that ski production at the company's Mukachevo, Ukraine plant has also been changed over to renewable energy, Fischer has become the first and only ski equipment company in the world to use 100 percent renewable energy in its production.

Fischer's latest investment resulted in the doubling of the thermal energy generated from biomass at the ski production plant in the Ukraine. The company's 5.5 MW energy plant went into operation just in time for the cold winter period in the Ukraine and the opening of the ski season.

Fischer's Ukraine location currently has a workforce of 950 people producing a total of around 700,000 pairs of alpine and cross country skis for the global market.
