Toronto, Canada - Canadian businessman and Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk launched Win2010.ca, a new innovative fundraising initiative on Monday on behalf of Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA) aimed at securing the financial resources required to get Canada's top ski racers on the podium in Vancouver 2010.

The effort will offer 3,000 special ACA memberships. All members will receive a two-year subscription to SRC (Ski Racing Canada) Magazine and access to all of the magazine’s digital and e-newsletter materials. Members will also have a one-in-four chance to win more than 700 prizes valued at $250,000. Each membership will cost $100 with all proceeds going directly to fund costs associated with housing and feeding the Canadian national ski team athletes competing in Vancouver 2010.

To help launch Win2010.ca Melnyk, who along with his daughters are avid skiers, purchased the first 300 memberships for friends and family.

“I know from 25 years of business experience one cannot achieve success without the help of others. For me personally, Win2010.ca captures the essence of that spirit. It’s a chance for Canadians to help Canadians,” said Melnyk. “Win2010.ca is a call to action from our athletes. It’s an exciting chance for an exclusive group of 3,000 Canadians who love sport to come together and help Canada’s national alpine team carry our country’s hopes and dreams when they compete at the 2010 Olympics.”

Working with the athletes and ACA, SRC publisher Mark Kristofic helped design the program which includes an all-inclusive trip for two to the Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing Resort with members of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, Miele dishwashers, tires provided by Continental Tire, Panasonic televisions, computers, skis, national team apparel and more.

Interested Canadians can follow Melnyk’s lead and can learn more about how to become members at www.win2010.ca.

“Win2010.ca is a concept that not only supports the Canadian team going into this Olympic season but also has the potential to provide amazing benefits to members,” said Kristofic. “Members will feel good that they are supporting the Canadian ski team and will feel even better if they’re riding in a helicopter with team members on their way to ski in the backcountry.”

“With only a few months remaining until the Olympic Winter Games, we remain focused on executing our athletic plan and providing the resources our athletes and coaches require to win,” said ACA President Gary Allan. “Our objective is to win medals in Whistler. With the tremendous support shown by Mr. Melnyk today, and his call to action for others to get involved, we have a terrific boost to our plan.

“We want to ensure our athletes and supporters know that no shortcuts were taken which could result in post-Games regrets. The raffle unveiled today enables us to reach closer to our goals while providing participants with an incredible opportunity to win one of the many quality prizes,” Allan added.
