Truckee, CA - California's Boreal Mountain Resort will fire up its Castle Peak Quad chairlift for an anxious West Coast public this weekend for its earliest opening on record.

Ski resort officials, however, hint that it may happen earlier if snowmaking remains productive.

The California resort will celebrate its early opening with its 5th Annual Jibassic Public Invitational Event this Saturday and Sunday, when all shredders willing to throw down great tricks will score $20 bills from a $2,000 wad of cash from noon to 4 p.m. each day. Judges will include Robbie Sell from FUEL TV and the Boreal park crew. An additional $2,500 will be on the line for a Team Video Challenge, with $2,000 awarded to the team with the best video, and $500 cash to the most viewed video.

Boreal’s lift will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lift tickets for ages 5-12 will be $15, ages 13 and up $30. A park will include six to 10 features. Season passes will be valid. Boreal’s early season operation is weekends only Fridays through Sundays until further notice, or as conditions permit.
