Norden, CA - Sugar Bowl Resort has announced that opening day for the 2009-10 ski and snowboard season, the northern California resort's 70th, will take place this Wednesday. Both the White Pine and Jerome Hill chairlifts will be running, and the Judah Lodge will be open to accommodate all lift ticket, season pass, food and beverage, rental and lesson needs.

Resort management intends to closely monitor both weather and snowmaking temperatures to take advantage of any potential for additional lift and trail openings for the holiday weekend.

“One thing is certain,” said Sugar Bowl’s director of sales and marketing John Monson. “With seven inches falling late last week, quality snowmaking temperatures on the mountain and a storm forecasting 10 to 16 inches more moving in, opening day for the 2009-10 season should be great."

Skiers and riders can expect special discounted rates on lift tickets for the opening weekend, and tickets will include the popular General Admission program offering free rentals and two hour group lessons for ticket purchasers age 13-69, as well as all season pass holders. Daily CORE Passes will be available to purchase for $19, giving the card holder plus one friend an additional $10 off the already discounted opening weekend lift ticket prices.
