Hunter, NY - New York State's Hunter Mountain ski area is targeting Masters racers this winter with a number of new camps, clinics and races.


A new Adult Race Camp Dec. 14-17, 2009 is a chance to get the ski season off to a jump start. Hunter's brand new four-day adult race camp is an interactive camp designed to develop racing skills and get participants primed for the season. Learn racing techniques and tactics to take on the challenge of giant slalom and slalom courses. Attendees will practice gate training and also try out new racing equipment. The camp also includes video analysis, instruction and a lunch voucher. Intermediate to advanced skiers are welcome, but enrollment is limited. Can't get enough race training on the hill? Hunter's Adult Racing is your chance as an adult to learn from the ski resort's renowned racing program. Develop or fine tune your racing skills every weekend by using training areas specifically for racing development. This is also a great opportunity for individuals to gear up for Master Racing. Participants must be an advanced skier in good physical condition ready to rip any terrain Hunter has to offer. The program meets from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-2:30 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, with a one-hour lunch time break in between. The program begins on Dec. 12, 2009 and ends on Mar. 14, 2010 and costs $649. Registration ends on Dec. 31, 2009. Need to improve on your racing skills? Want to learn how to tackle gates? Visit Hunter for a race workshop to apply your long and short turns in a racing environment. Learn racing techniques and tactics to tackle a race course. Workshops scheduled for Jan. 7 and 8, and Feb. 7 and 8 include video analysis, instruction, lift ticket, and breakfast and lunch vouchers. Intermediate to advanced skiers are welcome, and groups will be formed based on ability. The price is $159 for a one-day workshop or $299 for two days, and season pass holders get 30 percent off those rates.
