Mammoth Lakes, CA - For the second year in a row, the iconic mascot of the Roxy Chicken Jam, the snowboarding chicken, is challenging all willing and spirited mascots to a superpipe competition. The contest will be held during this year's Fifth Annual Roxy Chicken Jam at Mammoth Mountain on Saturday, March 28th following the women's superpipe final.

Open to guys and girls of all ages, species and fur types – including college and high school mascots, professionals and the typical flying squirrels and bears – the Mascot Superpipe Competition offers a $6,000 prize purse, with 1st place taking home $3,000, 2nd taking $2,000 and 3rd taking $1,000. The mascot contest will be judged by official Roxy Chicken Jam contest judges with similar criteria to any other pipe contest, awarding additional points for those who choose to wear a bulky mascot head…the bigger the head the more points.

Registration for the mascot competition will take place in the conference center at the main lodge between 8:00 a.m. and noon on Saturday, March 28th. Contestants must be dressed in mascot attire from head to toe.

The Roxy Chicken Jam, in its fifth year, is a six-star Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour Event and will crown the 2008/2009 Women’s TTR World Champion. The all-women snowboard event will bring together top pro women snowboarders from around the world to compete in slopestyle and superpipe events for a combined purse prize worth $50,000. In addition to awarding titles for each division, the unique event will feature a festival atmosphere with live performances by Santigold and Cold War Kids, hair by Paul Mitchell, touch ups by Covergirl, Roxy demo boards and skis, and other giveaways and goodies.
