Revelstoke (BC), Canada - As the summer tourism season in the town of Revelstoke kicks into high gear with the start of nightly live music, festivals and community events, the base area construction at Revelstoke Mountain Resort continues to charge ahead. Summer construction plans at the ski and snowboard resort in the British Columbia interior include the second phase of the Nelsen Lodge condominium hotel that features 56 additional suites ranging from studio to four bedrooms, a new full service restaurant and lounge, retail and a new café.


The first phase of Nelsen Lodge opened in March 2009 with 59 suites. Nelsen Lodge is the first ski in, ski out hotel at the resort.

Construction continues this summer on Nelson Lodge at the base of Revelstoke Mountain Resort.

In MacKenzie Landing Estates at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, the first private home was completed in early spring and numerous new homes are under construction this summer. New roads are also under construction in Monashee Estates, allowing for the first phase of home construction in the resort’s third real estate release.

New this winter, Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing will fly from Nelsen Lodge. Step out the door at Nelsen Lodge to where your helicopter waits to take you into 500,000 acres of Selkirk Tangiers terrain.

Whether you stop by for breakfast, lunch, après ski or an evening dining experience, a new Asian-fusion cuisine at Nelson Lodge will be a welcome addition to Revelstoke’s restaurant scene. Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Monashee Mountains, the restaurant will offer a range of menu options, specialty cocktails and local B.C. wines.

To kick off the 2009-10 ski season, Revelstoke Mountain Resort will launch the Revelstoke Outdoors Centre (ROC). Located at the foot of the Revelation Gondola in Nelsen Lodge, ROC will be the ski resort's the central location for mountain education, awareness and performance programs. Snow School, Cat Skiing, Heli Skiing, Backcountry/Slackcountry Touring and Avalanche Awareness Courses can now be booked through one location. Guests will have the ability to choose from flexible programs catered to their individual interests.

Programs include Introduction to Ski Touring and Split Boarding, Guided Day Ski Touring, Avalanche Skills Training (AST1) and First Tracks Cat Skiing, where breakfast at Nelsen Lodge is followed by an early morning ride to the top of Revelstoke Mountain Resort where a snowcat awaits to take you into the ultimate first run of the day.

Guests this winter will also find expanded parking facilities at Nelsen Lodge, terrain improvements including continued glading and brushing, and an expanded high performance rental fleet with Dynastar, Movement, Salomon and Head gear, including backcountry equipment and split boards.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort will open for its third season of operation on December 5, 2009. Selkirk Tangiers will begin its 33rd of heli skiing operations December 12, 2009
