“We’re honored to be hosting some of the best big mountain skiers from around the world for the final stop of the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour,” said Snowbird President Bob Bonar. “I’m confident that Snowbird’s terrain and snow conditions will live up to the caliber that everyone expects from a World Championship venue.”
With approximately 200 athletes competing, the reigning Subaru Freeskiing World tour leaders Griffin Post of Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Jacqui Edgerly of Aspen, Colo., will battle it out on Snowbird’s extreme terrain. Also in attendance will be the 2010 Subaru FWT points leaders Angel Collinson of Snowbird, Arne Backstrom of Squaw Valley, and Aaron Schmidt of Fernie, B.C.
"I'm very excited to compete at the Subaru Freeskiing World Championships," said Post. "My goal is to win the tour more than the event. For sure I want and need to do well in the event, but to be the first guy to win the McConkey Cup is the ultimate aspiration."
“To honor our good friend and legendary skier Shane McConkey, who founded this sport and the IFSA (International Free Skiing Association), the overall Subaru FWT champions will be awarded with the McConkey Cup," Adam Comey, President of event promoter Mountain Sports International. "This sport was his dream and we intend to keep it thriving for years to come.”
