The Dismal State of Ski Writing

Why, why, why do ski writers insist on incredibly crappy language constructs? Yes, some moron actually wrote in an article:

"... resulting in many great turns to be had."

I'll readily admit that ski writing is sometimes of rather poor quality, mine included. A lot of it stems from the fact that many ski writers are not actually writers by education. Again, yours truly included.

Quick tip: if you can put "by zombies" at the end of your sentence and it makes sense, you need to rewrite the sentence in the active voice. All the writer of my example had to do was eliminate "...to be had."

Now you have me worried about my heliski history website....
Passive voice has it's uses - but a little goes a long way so it shouldn't be overused. Kinda like truffle flavored oil and habanero peppers.
