Apparently the St. Maarten Airport is very short, has a low approach,and they bend the rules to allow oversized planes to land on a regular bases. Anyway?crazy photos of 747?s nearly hitting people?s heads on landings, and others getting blown off the beach into the ocean on takeoffs.

That's freakin' insane!!! At first I thought the photo must've been photoshopped, but then I watched the video and one or two others from different people and realized that it's for real.

I've had this discussion on another site. Apparently there are folks who go to this beach specifically to see these planes landing.

One guy told me they come so close to the beach you can literally reach up and touch the landing gear.

That is not my idea of a quiet, idyllic beach.
