SkiTube user videos

Folks, we've been working at modernizing our video delivery, and while doing so have launched our new SkiTube user video service.

FTO readers now have the capability to upload and display their own ski and snowboard videos! You can upload virtually any video that you own the rights to -- up to 100 MB -- and the server will automatically transcode the file into Flash video, create thumbnails, and display it for others to view. The quality is quite good, far better than you'll find on most popular online video services. You can easily copy the link to embed the videos here at Liftlines, too. You may find full details at:

http://www.firsttracksonline.com/index. ... lay&pid=75

We've used the same technology to transform our SkiMovies.com offerings. New additions to SkiMovies.com will now exhibit much better visual quality, as we'll be making our videos to meet the new standards. Past videos that currently appear on SkiMovies.com were created to lesser standards and won't benefit from the increase in quality. The best example of the new quality standards may be seen in the two sample Powder Mountain clips that we've uploaded to SkiTube.

You may find the SkiMovies.com videos here:

http://www.firsttracksonline.com/index. ... play&pid=6

or, of course at http://www.SkiMovies.com .

Both video categories will always be available via the "Videos" option in our main table of contents on the FTO homepage.

So, let's start uploading those videos!!

Well, dammit, I spoke too soon. Our video host changed some policies over the weekend that made delivering SkiMovies.com in the new format impractical. So, it's back to the old RealPlayer format while I scratch my head and seek another solution. In the meantime, SkiTube stays.

All other details in the original post are accurate.
