Video changes

Brightcove recently announced that they were discontinuing the service we were using for our SkiTube user upload service, only to be replaced with an upgraded service that we can't hope to afford. As a result, we've moved our SkiTube service in-house. In doing so we consolidated our original SkiMovies.com and SkiTube, and the new address for both services is now http://www.firsttracksonline.com/index. ... e=crpVideo and menus have been changed to reflect the update.

Remember, SkiTube is there to make uploading videos easy for our users! And it's free of charge, too!

Some more news:

We've added a Liftlines embed code to SkiTube videos, making it nearly brainless to embed a SkiTube video into these Liftlines user forums. This will work for any videos hosted by our own SkiMovies.com server. Externally-sourced videos, such as those accessed from YouTube or other providers as explained below, will need to continue to use the "video" BBCode.

As hinted at above, SkiTube also gives you the option to share videos from YouTube and many other popular video hosting sites, including Google Video, Daily Motion, Break.com, MetaCafe, 5min.com, Guba, Photobucket and more! When accessing our Submit video page, instead of uploading a video file from your hard drive, simply click the radio button next to "External URL" in the submission form. Then input the URL of the YouTube video there as well. Note that this is the URL of the video itself, not the page that the video is hosted on. It's usually an .flv or .swf file that you can get from the "Embed Code" of the video that may be viewed via a "Share" option for the video, and typically follows the "<embed src=" portion of that code, possibly with a bunch of other parameters included as well. For example, within YouTube's embed code the URL looks like this:

http://www.youtube.com/v/1JNaIysC-tU&hl=en&fs=1

Examples of valid file URLs from some other popular video hosting sites are as follows:

Code:
http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docid=7094235620076643101&hl=en&fs=true

http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/k2EgBhSMoHoyiGkxrQ&related=1&canvas=medium

http://embed.break.com/214250

http://www.metacafe.com/fplayer/792995/jet_ski_or_atv.swf

http://www.5min.com/Embeded/1189/

http://www.guba.com/f/root.swf?video_url=http://free.guba.com/uploaditem/3000045215/flash.flv&isEmbeddedPlayer=true

http://i220.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid220.photobucket.com/albums/dd293/Aloha_SurfSpirit/ski.flv&amp;sr=1

Finally, a Video section has been added to our FAQ to answer most of your questions:
http://www.firsttracksonline.com/index. ... &cat=10038

Happy uploading!

While the SkiTube embed code works like a charm at FTO's Liftlines, some may have noticed that the code used to embed videos uploaded to SkiTube in websites other than FTO wasn't working. That's now fixed, so folks who upload videos to SkiTube can now properly embed them in their blog, their own website, etc. using the embed code that we provide.

Admins,

I have a dumb question, I suppose. I'm trying to view some of the videos, and I get the video box appearing with a YouTube logo and a 'start' triangle, but none of it does anything. When I right-click and select 'view source', here's what I get:

<div id="imageContainer"><img src="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/Video/get_image/videoid/105" style="" id="lightboxImage"><div style="" id="hoverNav"><a style="display: none; height: 317px;" id="prevLink" href="#"></a><a style="display: none; height: 317px;" id="nextLink" href="#"></a></div><div style="display: none;" id="loading"><a id="loadingLink" href="#"><img src="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/javascript/ajax/lightbox/loading.gif"></a></div></div>

Is there a problem with the site, or do I have a problem with my setup?

thanks!

Tom

Your quote above indicates you were trying to access video#105, which I just tried...works for me.
