Tremblant December 25

It's always a pleasure to ski on Christmas: non existent lift lines, uncrowded cafeterias, and close parking spots. The temperature dove over the weekend, so the snow firmed up a bit, but coverage is amazing for this time of year. I warmed up on La Griffe, which is my favourite groomer on the mountain. Next was Windigo, which is a great practice run for moguls. The pitch is mellow enough that you can attack a line without the fear of losing control. Afterwards, I moved over to Dynamite. The upper section had great bumps and little ice or rocks. The lower section is still open, but pretty tracked out. Going down required careful planning, jumping, and praying to avoid rocks, but it was fun enough to warrant another attempt later in the day. I later met up with some slower friends so we hit some groomers from the top like Beauchemin and Beauvallon. These runs were fast but not icy. The south side was pretty foggy past mid-mountain so I didn't venture further down. I finished the day on the ungroomed section of Upper Duncan. This is a great pitch that sees little traffic for reasons I don't understand. It rarely bumps up so its a real treat when conditions are good.

A storm is set to hit the northeast tomorrow. As usual, Tremblant will not see as much snow as other places, but conditions are already great so any snow will just add to that. My plan is to ski through the storm tomorrow at Tremblant, then drive down to Jay on Friday. Hopefully the foot and a half predicted there will mostly fall after the lifts close tomorrow...
