An entire day of soft, silky sugar everywhere as my son graduated to blues -- a non-event around here given coldsmoke's kid who skied Big Couloir, I know, but a proud moment for me.

The woods still have great coverage. Must be the Catskills excellent snow preservation characteristics: :)

My impression is that the East has had a decent March. Perhaps there is hope for next year's annual NASJA meeting at Killington March 23-28.

Of course if he keeps that up, pretty soon you'll have to buy extra tickets on some of your trips west :)

I would say MUCH better than "decent". I think the best skiing of the past two years (admittedly last ski season - 2011/2012 - was a disaster in the East) has been in March of this year. I've skied every weekend and have already had at least 3 or 4 days of excellent conditions. March has been cold and snowy in the Northeast this year, with many days of groomed, packed powder skiing that can be a rarity around here at any time of the ski season. Bases are still deep at many ski areas all over New England.
