Its that time of year again...the annual Eastern Closing thread.

Excellent March for extending the season, however some while stop (more than in the last few years) stop spinning with excellent coverage.

It took me two days on and off to compile this list for what is happening next weekend in the East and finding potential closing dates. I didn't do it last week due to volume of ski areas still operating.

Let me know if you have any further information.

So here is Ski Mad World's Annual Closing Thread:

Where Are We At? – Eastern Closing Thread 2013-14 - Part 2

Go skiing !!! I am...I've skied at 8 different ski areas in my last 8 outings since March 26. No wonder I can't write any TRs.

The late Easter gone...so is a bunch of ski areas. From the remote Quebec areas with 100% coverage to a few big players.

Only 4 remain midweek (all in New England)....and 13 potential for next weekend. A few are now openly talking about May.

Quebec 6
Ontario 1
New York 1
Vermont 3
New Hampshire 1
Maine 1

Roll Call for this weekend is SIX!!!!

Mont Sutton is not reopening tomorrow due the R in the forecast. Wildcat is also calling it a season.

So we have one ski area that will have close to 80% of its trail open. Another offering $5 lift tickets tomorrow if you have some type of Montreal Canadiens gear plus free beer (for 18+) with purchase of nachos at their bar which will have the Canadiens-Bruins 12:30pm game on. Then there is 18 trails and 18 holes of golf for $50. More, more deals...why do people quit skiing and like to ski crap WROD in November?

Okay, so here is a detailed rundown with info and links for each open ski area this weekend.

So where are you skiing in May? After this weekend you'll need to go much farther away than now.

You mean after next weekend, no?

The closest ski areas open for me this weekend are as followed : MSS (2 hrs), Jay (3.5), Bush (4.33) Kmart (4.75), Loaf (5), Comi (8)é

Next weekend? MSS (2 hrs), Jay (3.5), Kmart (4.75).

In hindsight, I've skied here at the ski areas I've skied in April: Waterville/Cannon, MRG/Owl's Head, Gore, Stowe, Jay, Kmart. All this while Camp Fortune was open until April 20. So distance is not a problem. I have a Jay ticket to use plus a 2-for-1 at Kmart and my pass is good at MSS.

Lucky Luke skinned Sutton today. I haven't looked at the locals, but probably something to look at. And then there is Mount Washington where Frankontour finally made it down yesterday. The Chic Chocs ... Not worried about May. That being said, I'm not taking anything for granted. Something flew into my car on my way down to Waterville on April 1 and still waiting after the insurance to give the green light to repair. Avoid a deer on Monday night, almost did the same thing coming back from Jay on Easter Monday, but this time the speed involved would have cause real damage. Then afterwards, I f*cked my car on his road to his new house. Over $1000 in damage. #-o

I've already drafted Monday's post. Eveything will be closed midweek. A bummer as rain has been in the air all weekend and sun is forecast midweek.

Oh Mother!!! The sun is out after a gray and wet weekend.

Oh Mother !!! Eastern Closing Thread 2013-14 Part 6

No liftserved midweek for the public. (the lift is spinning at MSS everyday for a ski camp)

Jay and MSS are weekends only and done on Mothers' Day.
Kmart - Fri-Sun as long as possible.

More details in the link above.

Who is hanging on?
Who is over?

MSS and Jay said they were done. A couple of feet (5-8') of base left at MSS.

Killington said it was going as long as snow. Will they make it to June? I personally think it is a long shot (5%), slightly over 50% for Memorial day weekend.
