Timing is everything...

Drove up to Burke from Lincoln, NH to take advantage of the 3 for 1 ticket deal. The storm just got in the way of existing plans... Interstates empty and fairly clean. Got to the hill early and dumped the stragglers to catch first chair from the bottom - heading for 18" in place and still snowing up top! (Pass holders all ahead at mid-Burke for first tracks.)

First run down along the old chair over to the The Ledges. Untracked down to Lower Bear Den - straight down the fall line, like skiing pillows. Hit other tracks where I finally stopped and took pictures. (Didn't think to take any looking uphill...)

Spent the rest of the morning looking for fresh lines. Cold, face mask weather with light snow. Caught up to the stragglers struggling on their carving skis on Wilderness.

By 11:30 all agreed it was time for the amazing healing power of Switchback at the Bear Den. Everybody in the place with smiles on their faces. They must have given the Academy kids a "snow day" as they were all over the place on the hill, exploring the bumps & woods.

By late afternoon the crud started forming and the steeper bumps showed some thin spots. One last shot of the boys trying to revive burning thighs at the base.
