Crowds were increased today, but much lighter than we'd expected. In the morning, three trails were open. Forty Niner was better than a few days ago for having been loosened up by traffic. Fool's Gold, on the lower mountain, was wearing thin in spots. Ace of Clubs was open, but a race course was set up on the bottom half. Guns were running on the <BR>Triple Slope. In the afternoon, Gold Rush was opened, and it had the best snow of the day - new machine made piled up in lots of small bumps and wales. Lots of fun to jump around in with plenty of deep snow to get a grip on. We couldn't see across into the basin from the summit. All the mountain tops were hidden in a thick cloud. On the trip home along Route 4, we passed a non-stop parade of cars and SUVs, with filled roof racks, heading toward Rutland. Looks like the big crowds are starting to pour in for the upcoming week.
