(Note from the Administrator: This report was originally posted on 1/16/00. Due to our move to new servers, the date and time attributed to this post is incorrect.)

Today featured some breeze and perhaps a half inch of new snow. Magic was running the red double to the summit, had a decent crowd (for Magic) and basically one way down from the top with some branch trail options. The trail report claimed 14 out of 33 runs, but that was optimistic unless the four tubing runs were included.

The conditions varied from loose natural windblown, edgeable man made snow, a little ice, tree branches and a few geological features. Magic actually has pretty good man made snow which is suprising because there snow making equipment is so limited.

There was a race on Video Blvd which filled the mountain with lots of racers and their family. The race was probably responsible for the lift line that formed briefly, but most chairs were filled through out the day.

Magic is struggling to open two more trails off the top including Talisman a decent diamond run and probably Wizard another fun trail. Rumor had it these trails would have opened today but there was a piping issue last night.

Think snow because Magic needs a major dump to open up the gnarly stuff.
