Canaan Valley regularly has it tough times with the dreaded snow-then-rain-then-freeze, but if any of you Midlantic skiers can take some time off this week, you'll find some pretty good snow. Steady lake effect for past two days and it's supposed to continue for the next three days. (If you can't see it on radar, don't worry. For some reason, the precip radars don't pick up the lake effect snows that dump on Canaan Valley, even though they will show it north and south.) Canaan is 100% open. Timberline less so, but they should open up the rest soon. I wish I could have stayed a couple more days. We were on the lift today just a little past 8:00 a.m. and we pretty much had the mountain to ourselves for the first couple of hours. Very short lift lines were beginning to form by the time we left around noon--the winds that go with lake effect likely kept the meek indoors.
