Kicking Horse Jan 3

After three days of intense touring at Rogers Pass needed a break day. Kicking Horse got 17 cm fresh last night (Revy got twice that but I am base camped in Golden). The lift was crowded - I think that people must know when it snows nowadays. Maybe a 15 minute line. Anyways, there was fresh snow, though you could still feel the bottom. The denser Revy snow would have been more forgiving. The terrain here is more interesting than Revy. Only the second time that I have skied here, so I don't know if it is better or worse than to be expected (I guess I could check); locals said it was about average. I was here in late March and the chutes were more filled in - there were more that were skiable as well. However, the lower mountain was slushy, whereas today it was cold snow to the base. Pick your poison I suppose. Headed back to Revy to do a week long hut tour. Can't see any reason to head back to Utah quite yet.
