Pow Mow 3/30/2014

Headed up to Pow Mow today....

It was 57 degrees in Eden. It did not look promising.

Headed up to the ticket window and the lifts were on wind hold.... waited till about 10 am at which time they opened. Took the bus to Hidden Lake. There was about 2-3 inches on the groomers. The groomers skiied rippin........visibility was pretty good considering it was puking.

Off piste was ....well it was a death trap. I wouldn't touch it w/ a 10 foot pole at that time of the day.

Skied the groomers till about 11:30 am happily at which time they shut the lift down for lightning hold. They escorted us out of the area with snowcats. That was a first.........

Hung out for about 30 minutes until they opened the mountain back up. Another 1-2 had dropped easily by that point. The groomers skied beautifully and offpiste was starting to get tolerable.

Headed to the car at 1:30 to grab lunch. Decided to take Paradise lift at 2 pm. Went off piste and by that time 6-7 inches had dropped. I could feel the subsurface but it skied really, really well. I was really surprised. But given PowMow is all low angle aspects, it really racks up inches quickly. Took 4 laps on Paradise and was stoked. It should be really great tomorrow. Left the parking lot at 4:30 and it was absolutely nuking, 40 mph winds. Very few souls out there this afternoon.

Road down was no problem.

Estimating 8-10" by storm's end. Definitely considering heading up tomorrow for $20 lift tickets.......... :)

sorry no photos............i don't like taking my camera out if its nuking......
