Got in line at 9:10 -- was about 7th chair approximately. Ballroom was open immediately. \
/ Now THAT'S what I'm talkin about. Felt like I was skiing back in California where the early bird gets the worm............................. :stir:
Lapped Ballroom several times. Solid 6" on top of a firm subsurface.......Definitely not bottomless. Did require some care to avoid large chunks of frozen snow. The snow stayed like that all day long. 6" nearly everywhere......possibly 7-8 in some gullies ........but all in all, I'll take 6" fresh bluebird with noone out in a NY minute. Definitely seems like folks have put up their skis for the winter. People were vary scarce. If only Alta could be like that all the time............
Backside was open quickly and it skied beautifully. I probably took 6 runs over the course of the day. Stayed untracked most of the day. Susie's Trees skied beautifully (where you at skidog?) ........the steeper lines could have used about 6 more inches to really get fun/good. Seemed like some people were complaining about the firm subsurface...................I wanted to tell them to call the whambulance............I was perfectly content with it
Skiied cheaters (thirds) 3 laps at around 1pm. Since it was in the 30's (deg F) all day, the snow stayed surprisingly good. Did not get nuked as I suspected....super untracked in that area late in the day. Impressive.
Called it a day at 2:30. Devil's Castle was probably my favorite part of the day (3 laps) but it is my favorite part of the mountain. It gets tracked up the least quickest ........and its a beautiful part of the mountain.
Could possibly be it for me this season.........been a good one. Enjoy the ski porn.......
