Day 53: Clouds be gone!

What was shaping up to be a stellar spring day was destroyed by mid-day clouds.

Things were already beginning to soften beautifully throughout the morning. Backside was getting good and was only going to get better. Once the sun swung around to the west, West Rustler would start going off.

While we were lunching at Rustler Lodge, however, clouds unexpectedly moved in. Backside began to set up again. There was no hope left for West Rustler.

So we all left.

I spent the afternoon cleaning house, which was far preferable to scratching around on stiff concrete that wasn't going to soften. At least the day was salvaged by Arnie and Kay, who warmly hosted a group dinner at their condo.

Dinner time.

I was going to go up on Sunday, but I was going to let things try to soften first. I didn't even leave the house until 1 p.m., but Bobby Danger called me after I'd only gone a few blocks and told me to turn around. "Don't bother wasting the gas," he said.
