The line for KT-22 at Squaw Valley today:

They no longer allow negativity and may have pulled passes for it. See http://unofficialalpine.com/?p=12334" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for details.

Not only was that line so long, but I heard it was raining at the bottom and all lifts at the top were closed as they usually are during storms (and sometimes for days after storms end). You probably could have been riding Far East, a steep high-speed 6-pack that rarely gets much of a line, but only has a little over half the vertical of KT and serves far less terrain.

I've only skied two Sundays so far this year, but may be going upcoming Fri-Sun with my son who works during week. We will not be going to Squaw. Most likely we will be skiing some combination of Kirkwood and Heavenly, who both have been filling their parking early, but if they can run most of their lifts, have not been that crowded this year.

My experience, admittedly dated, is that Heavenly is also an area that does not handle crowds well. The awkward topography creates lots of choke points.

Tseeb's reference above is quite something. The level of rancor between KSL and its most passionate customers is easily comparable to Powdr Corp vs. Bachelor and Killington locals a decade ago. I was updating my January Season Progress from afar but I'll have to say I was shocked to see Squaw not operating Silverado on Jan. 31.

Aah, $200 with lift ticket. To avoid that line, I guess that's not bad...or just pick a different destination in the first place.

And people complain about Vail and Breckenridge...

That line is as bad as Disney.

Hard to fault any company for wanting control over their social media presence. Seems that the best way to deal with it is to create your own anti-KSL-Squaw FB page where ranting and negativity are allowed to roam free.

I understand and can appreciate your point, but the right way to ensure that you have a positive social media presence is to make your customers happy in the first place.

Marc_C, Do you mean like this one? https://www.facebook.com/squawdoesntcare/"

This one is also interesting: http://deathofthepressbox.com/2017/01/2 ... internets/" and some of the links from it link this one are also bad: https://deathofthepressbox.com/2016/11/ ... alley-usa/"

I think the nyskiblog guy got his $200 worth. Smart decision.

I've been hearing negative KSL rumblings for awhile. To some degree I dismissed them due to those 4 horrible snow years, which would have squeezed the finances of anyone running Squaw from 2012-2015. But to see the disgruntlement get worse with banner snow conditions, that's a management issue IMHO. One of those blogs compared Squaw operations to Mammoth. Mammoth has never withheld viable terrain between mid-December and mid-April to my knowledge. Last year they ran to July 4 when they really didn't have the snow, just to make a marketing statement that order had been restored in the Sierra. July will be for real this season.

Oh, I totally agree. It's just that there's no right to expect that a company would be willing to host negative comments about its operations on their FB page (although there are ways to handle that, too, if their marketing/communications dept. are smart enough to know how).
