Days 34 & 35: Snow and sun.

The two days of skiing this weekend couldn't have been more different. Saturday was overcast following 17" of new snow, and we managed to time the Backside gate opening perfectly. I even did alright on getting into position ahead of the canyon opening.

After lunch a fog bank rolled in, and it almost felt like the snow absorbed some of that humidity from the air. Still, you can't go wrong with 17" of new snow, especially when it skis lighter and drier than expected. Saturday was a legit powder day.

By contrast, Sunday was truly Sun-Day and warm, warm, warm! Warm enough to have a picnic off the Summer Road.

While we ate, ASP opened Devil's Castle. By the time we would have gotten there it would have been trashed. Still, despite the warm air the snow stayed reasonably dry and cold for some afternoon powder laps on Patsy Marley.

Sunday was an opening bell to closing bell kind of day. We were the next-to-last chair to load Collins for a final run on Backside, that didn't get us back to Goldminer's until 5 p.m. From there it was down to Mira and Sima's unit at Snowbird's Cliff Lodge for dinner. I didn't get back home until 8:30 p.m.
