Intrawest Acquired by Aspen & KSL

Not sure if Admin is still updating the news pages:

The surprise (to me at least) is Aspen in the mix. I'd heard rumors of KSL being a potential.

Let's hope Aspen takes the lead in managing the new acquisitions. KSL is not particularly well regarded by the Squaw/Alpine locals.

As one might imagine, lots of press on this transaction:

Not sure if KSL or Aspen are certain on what the final management structure will be other than KSL is currently saying Andy Wirth and team will remain at Squaw/Alpine. Powdr Corp being the strong partner to the current Intrawest in Colo for season passes. Have to wonder if that will change after 2017-18 is done (would enough front rangers buy a WP, Steamboat, Aspen pass in big numbers without Eldora/Copper?).

Steamboat, Winter Park, Tremblant, Stratton and Snowshoe seem like logical additions to Mountain Collective.

But I see you Front Rangers as the problem situation. Aspen and Steamboat currently have expensive season passes and will lose a lot of revenue if they price any combined pass low enough to attract the current RMSP people. Current RMSP gets 5 days at Steamboat, right? Maybe that piece gets extended to Aspen.

I think the jury is still out whether Aspen/KSL will copy the Epic Pass model vs. adding the Intrawest group to Mountain Collective. The latter course of action:
1) Allows them to retain the high priced Aspen and Steamboat season passes.
2) Keeps the Mountain Collective overall a stronger group of areas than Vail's despite Whistler and Stowe switching sides.
