Day 3.

After skiing on Sunday I picked up some new Atomic Backland FR 102s at a great price and had them mounted with some Dynafits that I've had laying around in the box for a couple of seasons. After Monday's storm exceeded expectations and dropped a full 18" of new snow, I took a few runs on Tuesday afternoon to try out the new sticks that I wanted for older snow with their narrower width.

Things were freshened wonderfully by the foot and a half of new snow, and I even managed to locate a few areas of only lightly tracked legitimate powder. Now the Saddle Traverse was open to access the lower half of West Rustler, too. The place was dead as a doornail.

I really enjoyed the playfulness of the new skis, although they're a bit light and therefore get tossed around a bit in lightly tracked snow. They'll make an exceptional touring ski, however.
