Our annual family half day on Christmas was excellent this year. We showed up a little after noon
And from midnight till the end of the ski day 15" of snow fell. By afternoon it was a mix of flurries and heavy snow squalls.
Skiing was obviously excellent, crowds were small (we parked in the second row finding an open spot), and patrol opened several areas on all natural snow. There is still a fair bit of terrain that needs to get open, but finally enough to spread people out a bit.
I guess much, but far from all of Colorado can call the recent storms a bit of a Christmas miracle to finally get a decent portion of terrain open. Trail of the day was upper Ambush which has a excellent pitch (officially double diamond) and all on natural snow. Super soft and fun, and probabky scraped off in a couple more days.
Left just at 4p with 12K vert. Happy Holidays everyone.
