Eldora has been much worse off than the rest of colo resorts so far this winter as to natural snow. They had some, but then a week of extreme winds ups to 90 MPH (Eldora closed on both Dec 19 & 20 due to winds for example) sent a big portion of what they had into Kansas. Given that, plus ever bouncing temperatures that have far too frequently limited snowmaking as well and they are way behind normal in terrain openings. The first 2 dates they had the run-in and the run-out of Corona chair open, but no actual trails back there were open. Now they finally have Corona and Alpenhorn trails open on the backside for laps. Alpenhorn remains my favorite groomer on the backside.

Given the limited terrain, I have yet to ski at Eldora and am up to 4 days of Snowboarding there instead to keep the interest level up. The surfaces have been surprisingly OK esp of late after the big wind events. Sure a some scratchy spots, but far less than in some years and several trails are skiing quite good. All of our Eldora Days so far have been warm-ish. Only during one of them were they actively blowing snow for example (Dec 13 on Corona trail).

Lines were fairly slow on the front side 6pack with an average of 2-2.5 people per chair going up. They will only pair up 2 singles on opposite sides of the lift, unlike some places which only require one empty seat between unrelated parties. Now that there actual backside runs open, the line is a bit shorter for the 6 pack.

How is the parking situation working for you? Are reservations hard to find?

I thought that could be an issue in a normal year.

Parking has been not too bad actually. I booked a couple of days way in advance for the holidays, but have been surprised to see more spots available 48hrs ahead of the actual date as well. I booked a spot for the 26th the evening of the 25th for example.

Eldora itself has had a huge parking issue for the past several years where lots are full by 8:30 or 9a on weekends. Ironically, having a guaranteed spot when we do go has been nice and relaxing with no forced march departure from home at 7:00am.

That said, with my son on the racing team we'll not have to worry about weekends this season and not sure the extra spots will always be there for last minute decision folks moving forward. Their calender of parking has weekends booked through Feb, (minus the added slots they are opening up 48hrs in advance).
