(Note from the Administrator: This report was originally posted on 3/8/00. Due to our move to new servers, the date and time attributed to this post is incorrect.)

I attended the unveiling of the new Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden, on the site of the present-day Whitetooth Ski Hill. A full story will follow on First Tracks!! Online in the coming weeks, but look for a 4000-vertical-foot ski resort serviced by a gondola by next season.

In any event, the existing Whitetooth trails were covered with fluff, much of it untracked. In particular, the trees adjacent to Grizzly were amazing, often knee deep or deeper. The snow was much heavier and wetter on the bottom 25% of the mountain, however, thanks to temps far above freezing and warm sunshine.
