My wife and I got our first turns of the season in at Timberline, Oregon, on October 29 and 30. <BR> <BR>From the looks of the weather, we figured the lifts would be closed. But to our happy surprise, they opened the lifts at about 9:30 AM. The visibility was poor, and the ski patrol had closed off all but a narrow run next to the Palmer lift, but we were skiing! <BR> <BR>After a couple of hours, the cloud cover lifted, and the patrol opened the rest of Palmer snowfield. We found about a foot of fresh powder on top of the groomed slope. What a treat! We did laps the rest of the day, until the lifts closed. <BR> <BR>I took some photos.
