My wife and I got our first turns of the season in at Timberline, Oregon, on October 29 and 30.

From the looks of the weather, we figured the lifts would be closed. But to our happy surprise, they opened the lifts at about 9:30 AM. The visibility was poor, and the ski patrol had closed off all but a narrow run next to the Palmer lift, but we were skiing!

After a couple of hours, the cloud cover lifted, and the patrol opened the rest of Palmer snowfield. We found about a foot of fresh powder on top of the groomed slope. What a treat! We did laps the rest of the day, until the lifts closed.

I took some photos.
