Skiied Copper yesterday (2/17)! I only have one word.. incredible! We (Betsy McDounough, Chris Bradford, and Jeremy Davis of NELSAP.org fame)are fully enjoying our first western skiing experience. After spending a lifetime in the east, this is a treat out here.

We were able to pick up some discount lift tickets from the local supermarket... good deal. We arrived @ Copper around 8:30am and quickly proceeded to the base area via shuttle. We rode the American Eagle quad and then traversed to the summit poma, where the best runs of the day were to be had! Snow quality was superb and the sun was bright and warm. Try that back east! Considering it was holiday weekend, the crowds weren't very bad.

Today, we landed @ Breckenridge... beautiful people capital of the west. (Well, we haven't been to Vail yet!) Although the snow quality was good, the crowd wasn't. At one point, we spent nearly 1.5 hours moving from lift to lift to line to lift without getting any skiing done. But that was ok because we expected a crowd on what is being called the busiest ski weekend of the year. Once we moved away from the crowded base areas, we stuck the rest of the day making runs from the summit. There are some great views up there!

Check out http://www.nelsap.org to follow the progress of the trip including photos!

--csb
