On March 16 it snowed about a foot from 6AM to 8PM. Though it was foggy in some places, there was no wind so no lifts were closed as I had heard happened 2 days before. We spent a lot of time in the Gad 2 trees for both snow and visibility. The snow got deeper in the afternoon, and the Wilbere Chutes after lunch were the highlight of the day. By late afternoon even Mineral Basin's crunchy base was well covered with new snow.

March 17th was fairly clear, and needless to say lots of people showed up. I got up the tram by 9:30 and headed for Little Cloud Bowl which had been closed Friday. After 3 excellent powder runs there I traversed out Mineral Basin for a few more fresh tracks. The rest of the morning was in chopped powder, and by lunch time I needed a break, particularly with 8 more days of skiing ahead. I took it easier in the afternoon, except for a last run in Jaws.
