Temp was 22 in the parking lot and down low in the trees
with an 8 Mph wind.
Weather was overcast with a few blue sky breaks, but more
snow showers than breaks.
Snow conditions down low were "the best of the entire season"
according to a guy who skis there almost every week. Nice clean
grooming with not to hard/not to soft, but just right texture.
Freshies were 4 inches of fairly light powder snow.
Up at the top of the magic Mile lift was a different story.
11 degree temp, 18 Mph wind (making for windchill of -17) and
all the new snow was long blown off leaving mostly hardpacked
near-ice with just enough soft fluff in the wind shadows to
make for fast/lurch/fast/lurch skiing.
Down low was better snow. Spent several runs in a natural
halfpipe/ravine where I was able to score some mid-boot deep
along the upper edges. -TomK 2 sticks.
