Saturday up at Alpental. Temps were up in the 60s/70s and it
was sunny. Got there early and appeared to be the first
party to head up. They lost 2 to 2.5 feet since last weekend.
Dirt-hiked up to the top of Sessel Chair where we could then
trek up thru dirty snow to Lower International. Quite a few
rocks and brush showing now and even suffered a couple of
postholes walking across the snowfield. Skied Lower Nash,
over to Debbies, and then we were able to find a line on the
lower 1/3rd of Debbie's alongside the ravine so we were able
to ski and board down to about halfway down Sessel lift. There
was another 10-20 turns available in a lower snowfield but it
really wasn't worth it except for the novelty effect. That was
it for us at the pass. This week's warm weather will probably
melt it off to unskiability (except for maybe upper Nash) by
this weekend. - TomK + Wife + a boarding buddy.
